Today the seminar “Us Too? – Bullying and Sexual Harassment in the Legal Profession”, organized by the International Bar Association (IBA),  together with Carey and the Chilean Bar Association, was held, where Barros & Errázuriz was present through it’s tax partner, Carola Trucco, who participated as panelist.

Jaime Carey, partner of the hosting firm, opened the event, which was proceeded by Kieran Pender, Legal Policy & Research Unit IBA, who exposed the results of the report “Us Too? – Bullying and Sexual Harassment in the Legal Profession”. The figures revealed that 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men surveyed have been victims of bullying in their work sector. Another alarming number was that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 14 men said they had been sexually harassed in their work space.

The event was followed by a round table, moderated by Claudia Wiegand, Legal Director, Fundación ChileMujeres, where our tax partner, Carola Trucco, participated as a panelist together with Loreto Silva, Partner, Attorneys Bofill Escobar Silva, Susan Sepúlveda, Chief Judge of the Third Family Court of Santiago, and Ciro Colomba, Founding Partner of Rivadeneira Colombara Zegers (RCZ) Abogados, where the conclusion was guided by Leonor Etcheberry, President of the Chilean Bar Association.

As a response to the results of the report, the International Bar Association proposed 10 recommendations to help raise awareness, combat and avoid such bad practices in the future of the legal profession.
